Abstract

This study aims to design RadFrac absorption unit for the purification and separation of acetic acid (CH3COOH) from a stream containing carbon dioxide CO in order to obtain high-purity acetic acid and an inert gas stream consisting of nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Acetic acid is produced via ethylene oxidation, yielding acetic acid, carbon dioxide and water. Under operating conditions of 29 0C and 10 bar, acetic acid was recovered in the bottoms stream at a flow rate of 35.496 kg\hr. All process stages were simulated evaluated, and investigated using Aspen Plus V10.
