Self-Archiving Policy
The African Journal of Advanced Pure and Applied Sciences (AJAPAS) supports the practice of author self-archiving (also known as Green Open Access) to maximize the dissemination and impact of research published in our journal. This policy allows authors to deposit different versions of their manuscript in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, or on their personal websites.
Here's an overview of AJAPAS's self-archiving policy:
-
Submitted Version (Pre-print): a. Authors are permitted to deposit the initial submitted version of their manuscript (pre-print) to any repository or personal website at any time. b. It is recommended that authors acknowledge that the manuscript has been submitted to AJAPAS and that it is currently under peer review.
-
Accepted Manuscript (Post-print): a. Upon acceptance of their manuscript for publication in AJAPAS, authors are permitted to deposit the accepted version (post-print) – which is the final peer-reviewed manuscript before copyediting and formatting by the journal – into their institutional repository, a subject-specific repository, or on their personal website. b. We request that authors include a statement acknowledging that the article has been accepted for publication in AJAPAS and provide a link to the journal's website (https://aaasjournals.com/index.php/ajapas/index) if possible.
-
Published Version (Version of Record): a. As an open-access journal, the final published version (Version of Record) of all articles in AJAPAS is immediately and freely available on the journal's website under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. b. Authors are encouraged to link directly to the Version of Record on the AJAPAS website whenever possible, as this ensures that readers access the definitive, fully formatted, and paginated published article. Depositing the Version of Record in repositories is also permitted.
Benefits of Self-Archiving:
- Increased Visibility and Readership: Self-archiving makes your research accessible to a wider audience, including those who may not regularly visit journal websites.
- Enhanced Citation Count: Greater visibility often leads to higher citation rates for your published work.
- Compliance with Funder Mandates: Many research funders require authors to deposit their work in open-access repositories. AJAPAS's policy helps authors comply with these mandates.
- Long-term Preservation: Repositories contribute to the long-term preservation and accessibility of scholarly output.
AJAPAS supports and encourages authors to take advantage of self-archiving to maximize the impact and reach of their valuable research.
