Keywords:

This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and to identify factors associated with it in selected areas of Wadi Alshati. An analytical cross sectional study was conducted in 2025 among 360 adults. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, together with measurements of body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). The prevalence of diabetes was 23.9% (86 of 360). After adjustment in multiple logistic regression, diabetes was significantly associated with age ≥50 years (adjusted OR = 3.84), obesity (OR = 2.71), family history of diabetes (OR = 4.26), and low physical activity (OR = 1.98). These findings highlight the importance of early screening programs and health education in the region, while longitudinal studies are needed to confirm these associations.
