The Reality of Applying Governance Principles in Libyan Commercial Banks: Case Study – National Commercial Bank, Gharyan Branch

This research seeks to identify the level of implementation of governance principles (Transparency, Accountability, Equality, Justice, and Participation) at the National Commercial Bank, Gharyan branch, based on the perspectives of its employees. To achieve the study’s objectives, a descriptive-analytical approach was adopted. A questionnaire served as the primary tool for collecting primary data regarding the research problem, complemented by personal interviews conducted with several leaders and staff members during the preliminary exploratory phase.
Given the small and manageable size of the study population, a comprehensive survey method (Census) was employed. The total population consisted of 52 employees, and the same number of questionnaires was distributed; 48 valid copies were retrieved for analysis. Data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), utilizing descriptive statistical methods such as the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and range, in addition to frequencies and percentages.
The results revealed that the level of governance implementation at the bank under study was moderate from the employees' perspective. Furthermore, a variation in the application of governance dimensions was observed, ranging from high to moderate and low; notably, Participation and Accountability were among the least
